Chagga Cultural Tour

On the slopes of the world’s highest free standing mountain, the Kilimanjaro, live the Wachagga people. The Wachagga are a Bantu language speaking group that inhabit the Kilimanjaro highlands.

They are agricultural people and their green shambas form a beautiful mosaic of green growth with the natural montane forest. We run tours in the vicinity of Marangu, Mamba & Machame villages. Local people have planned the walking routes through lush valleys with numerous waterfalls and up to panoramic view points.

Our tours let you experience African mountain village life. We visit Chagga villages and learn about chagge culture, local blacksmiths who continue using ancestral methods to prepare Maasai spears and tools, Chagga houses, local caves that feature in local myths and ancient legends.
